Mike Carroll – Girls Skateboards Goldfish (1994)

Those immortal lines Malachi The Nutcracker of Group Home spits on Words From The Nutcracker are the verbal equivalent to the second half of Mike Carroll’s video part in Goldfish. I only talk about the second half of this part because it’s the part that matters. The first half is amazing too but with De La Soul rapping about Oodles of O’s, its way more light hearted than the non verbal slap the second half delivers.

Mike skates with such authority and conviction that there isn’t anyone daring to step to him or his skateboard. His line down Vine Street gesturing for his crew to get the fuck out of his way is epic. The way he stomps his nollie frontside flip down the three stair at the end of a line or levitates and turns his frontside flip up a three stair at the start of a line are the details that make Mike a boss.

Even if Mike comes across as a bit serious with his skating, he’s cool enough to end his part with a line at his brick and mortar kingdom, Embarcadero. He casually gives Eric Koston a high-5 before heading across the plaza with the Most Blunted in tow.
